🦋 Why I Build Safe Spaces in Games 🌼

The Sims 4 offers a world where everyone belongs—cozy, inclusive, and full of possibility—and that’s something truly special.

When I sit down to play or create, I’m not just escaping—I’m building something intentional. For me, video games have always been more than entertainment. They’ve been a refuge, a canvas, and a way to reclaim joy during some of the hardest chapters of my life.

Living with autoimmune disease and cancer means navigating uncertainty, fatigue, and limits that aren’t always visible. But in games, I can shape worlds where those limits don’t define me. I can build homes that feel warm and welcoming, towns that run smoothly, and communities that thrive. These virtual spaces become safe havens—not just for me, but for anyone who needs a moment of peace.

In Cities Skylines 2, I find comfort in designing cities that prioritize beauty, accessibility, and flow. I love crafting neighborhoods with green spaces, thoughtful transit, and cozy corners that feel lived-in. It’s not just about efficiency—it’s about creating places where people (real or imagined) feel cared for. That philosophy carries through to my Sims 4 builds, my mods, and even my Planet Zoo layouts. Every detail is a chance to say: “You’re safe here. You’re welcome here.”

The Sims 4 has always felt like a safe space to me—one that’s inclusive, inviting, and endlessly cozy. It celebrates individuality and creativity, allowing players to build lives, homes, and stories that reflect who they are and who they want to be. Whether you’re designing a quiet sanctuary or a vibrant community, The Sims 4 offers a world where everyone belongs—cozy, inclusive, and full of possibility—and that’s something truly special.

Safe spaces in games matter. They remind us that creativity can be healing, that design can be compassionate, and that we all deserve places—digital or otherwise—where we feel seen and supported. That’s what I try to build, and that’s what I hope you feel when you visit my content.

Thanks for being part of this journey. You help make this garden grow.

Every build tells a story. I’d love to hear yours: What makes you feel safe, seen, or supported in the games you play?
